Terms of service

Plain terms for an early product. If something here reads as though it is hiding something, tell us and we will rewrite it.

What screenless is

screenless places a scheduled phone call to a number you have verified, and mails you a PDF built on your own machine. The service is operated by W, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands.

It is early, and sold as such

Parts of what the marketing describes are still being built. You are buying access to something in progress, at a per-minute price locked for as long as you stay. If that is not what you want, do not pay.

Your account is your phone number

There is no password. Whoever controls the number controls the account, and the service will only ever dial the number that was verified. Keep the session token in ~/.screenless/config.json to yourself; screenless logout ends the session.

The paper is free; the call is pay-as-you-go

Scheduling the weekly edition costs nothing. Calls bill per minute — 30¢ at the time of writing, stated on the pricing page — from your team's credit balance. Every new team starts with $10 of credit, granted once; when the balance runs out, calls stop until an admin tops up. There is no subscription, nothing recurring, and no card until you choose to top up. Credit is not refundable and does not expire. Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see your card.

Fair use

The call is intended for a team reviewing its own work. Rate limits apply, and we may suspend an account whose automated calling is running faster than its credit — the balance is the throttle, and working around it is the thing this clause forbids. We will contact you before doing so unless the cost is running away.

What you must not do

• Use it to call anyone but yourself. It is built so it cannot, and attempting to work around that ends the account.
• Put unlawful content, or another person's personal data, in a brief.
• Resell the calls.

No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided as is. Calls depend on telephone networks and on third parties, and will sometimes fail. We are not liable for a decision you made, or did not make, because a call did not arrive. Our total liability is capped at what you paid in the previous three months.

Ending it

Cancel whenever you like. We may end an account for a breach of these terms, or discontinue the service with 30 days' notice and a pro-rata refund.

Law

Dutch law applies; disputes go to the courts of Amsterdam. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so by email before it takes effect.
